A Biblical Timeline Banner Offers A Graphical Mode To Aid And Help Teach Biblical Events And Facts

In our Bible study some years ago, one person who had been a Christian and worked in the local Church for many years, asserted that,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they weren't referring to the pre-mosaic law) I wonder how many Christians will actually pick up the inaccuracy in this assertion. Moses existed five hundred years after Abraham and so it is impossible. I have since then compiled a Bible timeline and shown visually the chronology of men and women and events.

Years ago, I was teaching on the death, burial, life and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and a retired minister and strong preacher of the Bible, who had been in the ministry for forty years, marched up and reproved me vigorously over some fascinating points I made and he noted 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I humbly asked him if I had been saying anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he answered"No". I continued to spell out that in the case of that particular Scripture, it wasn't referring to exploring Scripture but to the false teachings and philosophy of Gnosticism, but he wouldn't accept it. Let me ask, how can a forty year preacher & worker in the Gospel, not know and understand about a thing that possibly 1/2 the books of the New Testament refer to?
How can he understand and preach the Bible in fullness without knowing about a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to understand these things and be able to interpret their Bible well, if they are not told?
Let's us as instructors and preachers sew together the aspects of the Bible and His plan into a seamless tapestry that our people can draw on for the remainder of life, helping them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and ways to better interpret the Bible to live by.
It's not difficult to do, and it is not boring if we are prepared to put in a bit of study and prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can make use of a Bible Timeline as well.
